circa 1874

First National Bank celebrated 150 years in 2006 and we're proud to be a part of the Leavenworth community and its strong history. Our bank has a successful history of its own dating back to 1856.

Older than the State of Kansas, First National is known as the first chartered National bank west of the Mississippi. Leavenworth was still a wild and wooly town with unpaved streets when Isett and Brewster opened a private bank in the summer of 1856.

The history of First National Bank combines innovation with stability. During the Great Depression, in the 1930’s, First National remained in operation when other banks in the community failed.

First National Bank employees believe in volunteering in the community. Events such as the Riverfest, Lansing’s Annual Brew, Blues, & Bar-B-Q Cook-off, American Cancer Society, Habitat for Humanity, civic boards, youth groups, and local schools; you will find us taking part and getting involved.

We’re proud to be a bank with a history, a strong tradition of family, and a commitment to our community and customers!
